Dr. Derrick Samuels, Ph.D, the President and Founder of the Derrick Samuels Leadership Institute in USA paid a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot. Dr. Samuels’ visit was the start of the ongoing strategic partnership between the Institute and UoE in the area of training facilitation, consultation and research and development. Dr. Samuels, an Adjunct Professor at the Cornell University, during the discussion, mentioned that the partnership would benefit both institutions by aligning educational offerings with a view to the current market demand, foster workforce readiness and engage in community development initiatives. Prof. Philip Raburu, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (PRE), representing the Vice-Chancellor welcomed the partnership as it aligned closely to the mission of the University and the Vice-Chancellor's transformation and repositioning vision. He added that the training's would be beneficial to the University colleagues.
In attendance was Mr. Bencartier Amutebi (DSLI-Kenya), Mr. Stephen Anditi (Senior Legal Officer), Dr. Hoseah Kiplagat (Dean, School of Education), Dr. Frank Masese (Ag. Director, Industrial Links, Partnerships and Collaborations), and School of Education faculty including Dr. Lydia Kipkoech, Dr. Jafred Muyaka, Dr. Naomi Kutto, Dr. Jirm Elle and Dr. Rachel Koross.
