The Kenya Innovation Week Africa Edition at the Edge Conference Center, Nairobi, was a significant milestone for the innovation and startup ecosystem in Africa. Bringing together innovators, policymakers, researchers, educators, and industry leaders, this event provided a platform to share ideas, showcase groundbreaking solutions, and explore strategies to scale innovations to benefit society. Representing the University of Eldoret was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (PRE) and two students to showcase their innovations/prototypes as detailed in Table 1.

Among the sessions in the event were scalability and sustainability of innovations, steps to commercialization, collaboration as a catalyst for growth, and addressing information gaps. The sessions were useful in gaining valuable insights into commercialization, innovation management, and industry-academia partnerships. The Kenya Innovation Week 2024 was a transformative experience that provided valuable lessons on innovation management, commercialization, and collaboration. The discussions, exhibitions, and networking opportunities underscored the immense potential of African innovators to drive societal change. The participation of the University of Eldoret in the event was aligned with the University’s mission of driving innovation and knowledge. Our participation showcased the institution’s capacity to develop impactful solutions while highlighting areas for growth and improvement. By applying the insights gained during this event, the University can further cement its reputation as a leader in innovation and research.
