RMIT University is offering a fully funded PhD scholarship for African citizens for a project titled “A Spatial Governance Modelling Framework for Enhancing Vulnerable Road-User Safety in Sub-Saharan Africa.” The scholarship covers 3.5 years of tuition fees and provides a stipend.
The research aims to improve road safety in Sub-Saharan African cities by using spatial data and policy analysis. Among other objectives, it will map crash-risk for vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists, motorcyclists), analyse governance readiness, and build a data-driven framework to help transport agencies prioritise effective, cost-sensitive interventions.
