On Wednesday, 11th February, 2026, CAMCO Machinery Company signed a commitment letter in line with the previously signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing practical training, research, and skill development in line with current industry needs.
The event was attended by key stakeholders, including Dr. Fatuma Daudi, Director, ILPC, who underscored the institution's commitment to fostering industry-academia partnerships. The UOE Management Team, led by the Prof. Samuel Lutta, acting VC, was also present reaffirming the institution's commitment to the partnership and emphasizing UoE's strategic commitment to strengthening research capacity and industry engagement.
The letter commits CAMCO Machinery Company to building a state-of-the-art service centre on the UOE campus, enhancing practical training, Research & Development opportunities for students and faculty. A Joint UOE-CAMCO Committee has been constituted to oversee the implementation of the strategic partnership, driving the delivery of the service centre and ensuring timely activation of programmes in machinery servicing, engineering solutions, and tech innovation.
Mr. Andy He Ersuo, CAMCO General Manager officiated the ceremony, highlighting the company's commitment to strengthening industry-academia ties and emphasizing the service centre's potential as a hub for practical training, engineering solutions, and technological innovation. KCB Officials attended the signing ceremony, reflecting the broader industry and financial sector support for the partnership.
The partnership is expected to create direct opportunities for practical training, skills development, and industry engagement for the student community, enhance industry-academia ties, boost innovation, and create opportunities for students and faculty in areas such as machinery servicing, engineering solutions, and tech innovation.
