8th Annual University of Eldoret Innovation Week and Public Lecture

The University of Eldoret will host its 8th Annual Innovation Week and Public Lecture from 10–12 February 2027 at the NS Grounds under the theme “From Ideas to Impact: Innovating for a Changing World.”

8th Annual University of Eldoret Innovation Week and Public Lecture

The Innovation Week provides a platform for students, staff, researchers, industry partners and other stakeholders to showcase innovations, exchange ideas and explore solutions to emerging societal challenges.

Innovation Ideation & Pitch Bootcamp
8–9 February 2027 | 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.

The two-day bootcamp will prepare students for the Innovation Challenge through practical sessions on ideation, design thinking, intellectual property, entrepreneurship, business models, market validation and pitching.

Exhibition of Innovations and General Exhibitions
10–12 February 2027

Staff and students of the University of Eldoret, other universities and technical institutions, companies and other stakeholders are invited to showcase their innovations and products.

Innovations exhibited will be judged, with outstanding innovations receiving awards in different thematic areas.

4th University of Eldoret Innovation Challenge

The Innovation Challenge is themed “Campus Innovation Challenge: Solve a Problem on Campus.” Students are invited to develop innovative solutions to challenges affecting the University community. Applications are open until 30 October 2026.

Final pitching: 10 February 2027 from 2:00 p.m.

Intellectual Property Rights Seminar
10 February 2027 | 9:30 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

The seminar will focus on “Intellectual Property Rights and Commercialization Options”, including patents, trademarks, utility models, intellectual property protection and commercialization opportunities.

Panel Discussion
11 February 2027 | From 11:00 a.m.

The panel will explore “From Ideas to Impact: Scaling Innovation, Technology, and Research Outputs for a Changing World.”

Judging of Innovations
10 February 2027 | From 2:00 p.m.

Innovations will be judged in the following areas:

  • Agriculture, Food Security and Nutrition
  • Social Innovations
  • Digital and Creative Economy
  • Health
  • Environment and Natural Resources Management
  • Affordable Housing and Construction

Public Lecture and Closing Ceremony
12 February 2027

The closing ceremony will feature a public lecture on “Building a National Innovation Ecosystem for Sustainable Development and Global Competitiveness.”

The session will explore commercialization of university research and innovations, entrepreneurship ecosystems, university-industry collaboration, policy and support mechanisms, and the societal benefits of innovation.

Award Ceremony

Outstanding innovations will be recognized during the closing ceremony with prizes and certificates.

Call for Participation

The Department of Intellectual Property Management invites students, staff, researchers, institutions and other interested stakeholders to participate and showcase innovations aligned with Kenya Vision 2030, AU Agenda 2063 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Participation costs

  • UoE staff and students: Free
  • External exhibitors: KES 10,000, covering a booth and meals for three days
