Over the years Kenya has experienced an expansion in the demand for higher education. To respond to this demand, the University of Eldoret launched a Campus in the Eldoret Central Business District to reach out to a unique clientele offering new, practical, professional programs and short courses.
The University of Eldoret Town Campus located at the MUSCO Towers in Eldoret Town was established and became operational in January 2014. It was accredited by the Commission for University Education (CUE) in 2016. The Campus has all the facilities that are needed to provide a conducive environment for quality training, research, and innovation to students, equipped with lecture halls, a library, a health clinic, a computer laboratory, Lecturer’s parlor, and a boardroom/conference room that can host 50 people at one sitting.
Town Campus runs on a three (3) semester basis which shortens the learning period without compromising on the quality of education delivered. Enrollment is open in January, May, and August each year for courses available in the Schools of Agriculture and Biotechnology, Arts & Human Development, Business, Economics and Management Sciences, Education, Environmental Sciences & Natural Resource Management, and Science.
The campus offers Commission for University Education (CUE) accredited Doctorate, Masters, and Bachelors programmes. It also offers Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Post Graduate Diploma in Technical & Vocational Education Training (PGD-TVET), various Diploma, professional courses, and tailor-made short certificate courses.
In June 2021, the campus was accredited by TVETA and licensed to offer the Accounting Technicians Diploma (ATD), a KASNEB examined course. In 2022, the Town Campus sought KASNEB accreditation was was granted permission to offer the KASNEB courses.
The mode of study is full-time and part-time (evening and weekend) giving an opportunity to those who are constrained by engagements such as employment and/or geographical location. Holders of diplomas with credit, distinction, and/or higher national diploma and CPA (K) from accredited bodies are encouraged to apply for admission into the second (2nd) and third (3rd) year of Bachelor programmes respectively as per our Credit Accumulation Transfer System (CATS) policy. The institution reaches out to clientele who for one reason or the other are not able to attend face-to-face classes through its robust Online and Distance e-Learning (ODel) platform.
The institution is already in collaboration with professional bodies locally and internationally such as Discovery Institute, USA, and BioCosmos Africa among other institutions to offer relevant and current courses.
The Town Campus student population has been steadily growing over the past years with the number now standing at one thousand students. The entire team of Town Campus leadership and staff are dedicated and committed to ensuring that quality and customer-driven services will be experienced by every person who visits the institution. With Kenyan education in top gear to roll out the new CBC education system, the Town Campus is also aligning with these changes by working in collaboration with the Main Campus and developing the necessary content to meet this demand.
The campus is committed to providing academic programmes which are relevant and have practical application to the ever-changing needs of our environment in line with the Vision 2030, Sustainable Development Goals, and Agenda 2063 Goals. We prepare professionals for the job market to be able to address national, regional, and international challenges.
