University Represented During The 3rd EAC Regional STI Conference

In order to meet our Vision and Mission as we work towards transforming ourselves to become an International Center of excellence, the University was well represented by the Director Research and Innovation Prof. Lizzy A. Mwamburi during the 3rd Edition of the East Africa Community regional STI Conference which was held between 6th-8th March 2024 at the Sarova Panafric Hotel, Nairobi, Kenya.  The STI Conference themed: ‘Accelerating Development and Diffusion of STI Solutions for a Resilient East Africa’ was opened by Prof. Walter Oyawa, CEO-NACOSTI on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education Hon. Ezekiel Machogu.

University Represented During The 3rd EAC Regional STI Conference

The Conference which brought together over 250 stakeholders was centered on diffusing new developments in STI and sharing experiences and results within knowledge and technology generation, translating and transferring chain, applications of STI outputs, strengthening collaborations, and facilitating regional integration and sustainable development.

The sub-themes which were deliberated included the following:

  • Agricultural Productivity, Resilience And Food Security.
  • Open Science and Science Diplomacy: Bridging Borders for Global Impact
  • Stimulating Digital Entrepreneurship
  • ICT emerging technologies in driving digital transformation in industrialization in East Africa
  • Natural Resources Management
  • Information Communication Technology and Digital Economy

The Conference was organized by the East African Science and Technology Commission (EASTECO) and Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA) in collaboration with various STI stakeholders in the region and globally.
