Date: 12th July, 2018.

This activity was held at the Safari Park Hotel, Nairobi. The Partners’ Day was organized by two SNV programs, namely Kenya Market-Led Horticulture Program and Smart Water for Agriculture Project flanked by their respective partners and consortium members.

The day’s main objective was ‘to unlock finance for scale-up through partnerships along horticulture value chain.

Its sub-objectives were:

  • Sharing and exchange of experiences and results of business cases; the business models used and the potential for the scale to relevant sector stakeholders
  • Promotion of partnerships and links between partners in the business cases and stakeholders to stimulate adoption, uptake and scale up for systemic changes in the horticulture and irrigated agriculture sectors
  • Understanding the concept of Blended Finance and how all actors can benefit from that concept

These were to be achieved through open sharing forum/platforms, exhibition and a series of thematic breakout sessions as well as networking and exploring partnerships that would stimulate access to finance. The need to contribute to food security and inclusion of women and youth in agricultural activities especially at decision-making levels was discussed as well. The session began with a welcome from the MC Ms. Loise – SNV and a brief from the hotel’s Chief-of-Security.
