The International Students’ Association (ISA) of UoE participated in a tree planting exercise on the 28th of July 2022 at the University Grounds next to School of Engineering Workshop. The event was organized by the international students’ community under the leadership of Mr. Ousman Sarlta Dorley who is currently the Chairperson of ISA-UoE, assisted by the Outreach and International Students’ Centre. The students who are drawn from 12 countries on the Continent; viz; The Gambia, Namibia, DRC, Malawi, Sierre Leone, Liberia, Nigeria, Botswana, Senegal, Ghana, Uganda and Ethiopia planted over 25 tree seedlings of the Olea Africana tree, 12 of which represented their home countries
At this colorful event, speaker after speaker applauded the international students for their proactiveeness and the fact that they had a desire to impact the community within which they were working. All members present agreed that indeed the leadership of ISA-UoE was doing a superb job in ensuring that the presence of the international students was felt. The event was attended by Dr. Thomas Munyao (Chairman, ESC) who in consultation with UoE management offered guidance on where the tree seedlings would be planted and also assisted the students in the planning and organization of the event. Other university staff who participated are Dr. B. Orori (Forestry and Wood Science), Dr. Kiboiy Lelei (Dean of Students), Dr. Christopher Saina (AESS), Prof. Robert Otuya (Dean SBUC), Dr. Wambui Ng’ang’a (CAM), Dr. Steve Omari (DVC-PRE’s Office) and Dr. Abigael Otinga (Coordinator OISC) amongst others.
