University’s Vice-Chancellor’s Cup Extravaganza

The University hosted the Annual Vice-Chancellor’s Cup grand finale for the academic year 2021/2022 on Saturday 9th, April 2022 at University Sports Pavilion grounds. The grand finale saw the School of Engineering men’s football team and the School of Education Women’s football team emerged winners after thrashing the School of Science by three goals to two (3-2) and School of Business and Management Sciences by two goals to zero (2-0) respectively in a nail biting finale that was witnessed by the Vice-Chancellor and some members of the University Management Board members.

The final event which was kicked off by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Teresa Akenga was full of fun and flair with various events taking place. Prof. Akenga in her address commended the students for being cooperative and united for the betterment of the university. She noted that the purpose of this event is to foster a cohesive culture between the students and their tutors and encourage a competitive spirit among the students. She appreciated the efforts of the students who had made this event successful irrespective of the little resources available. She finalized by urging the students to maintain peace love and unity as we head towards the national general elections.

The day’s activities started at 9:00 am with football play-off between Schools of Education and School of Business and Management Sciences. The accolades for the 2nd Runners up went to the School of Education. Thereafter a fitness training session was conducted by trainers from the Rupaz Fun and Fitness Center which involved all students and staff present.

Other the activities that took place during the event included Karate show where University Karate Team showcased their talents. The winning teams were awarded with medals and trophies among others gifts.

Also in attendance were, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (AF) Prof. Wilson Ng’etich. Director Quality Assurance Prof. Donald Otieno representing the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (PRE), the Dean of Students’ Dr. Lelei Kiboiy, Dean School of Engineering Eng. Dr. Clement Kiptum, Principal Security Officer Inspector James Rotich, Games Tutor Mr. Kibet Rono, members of the 8th and 9th Student Councils, members of the VC’S Cup Committee and students.
