University 11th Virtual Graduation Ceremony


The University hosted the 11th Virtual Graduation Ceremony on 24th November, 2022 at the University’s New Site Grounds. A total of 2548 graduands were conferred with degrees and awarded diploma by the University Chancellor.

The University 11th Graduation ceremony was overseen virtually by the University Chancellor Amb. Prof. Judith Mbula Bahemuka from our Nairobi Liaison Office, and the Principal Secretary, State Department for University Education and Research, Amb. Simon Nabukwesi who was representing the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education Ezekiel Machogu attended in-person.

In her remarks, the University Chancellor Amb. Prof. Judith Mbula Bahemuka acknowledged the support the Ministry of Education has been affording the University and singled out the active role the Principal Secretary Amb. Nabukwesi has been doing to nurture and empower the University. She thanked the University Council, University Management Board led by the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Teresa Akenga, staff, students and the local community for fanning the University Motto and clarifying our niche of expertise. She acknowledged the University researchers and innovators who have been vibrant in ensuring that the University attracts sponsors, donors, collaborators and international students and partners. Amb. Prof. Bahemuka further called upon the graduands to be innovators, and job creators with entrepreneur skills and to avoid being captive of social and political bigotry within their spheres of existence. She finalized by acknowledging the 10 years of existence of the University and called upon the graduands and the University at large to be re-inventor of future changes and stamp their contribution to peace, food security and climate change awareness within their respective surroundings.

The Principal Secretary Amb. Nabukwesi in his address on behalf of the Cabinet Secretary Ministry of Education commended the University on her prudent utilization of the limited resources that the Ministry has been affording them throughout the years. He commended the University on her quest of establishing the Endowment Fund to support bright but needy students noting it is an excellent idea for posterity of the institution. He encouraged staff and students to love to belong to this University urging them to endeavor to create a harmonious culture that will depict the university in a positive light. The Principal Secretary identified that there are numerous scholarships in the field of Science, Research, Technology and Innovation and called the graduands, staff and students alike to apply for these scholarships to benefit from its funding. He finalized by congratulating the graduands and urging the university staff to fast-tract creation of consultancy groups to support the government in various consultancy ventures.

The University Chairman of Council Dr. Ismail Buro Hassan on his part congratulated the graduands and called on them to be solution makers within their various surrounding and be ambassadors of the University. He identified that through the oversight of the Council, the University has continued to develop infrastructure which has ensured that all the University undertakings comply with the law of the land. He finalized by thanking the government for their support and appealed for further assistant aimed at enabling the University meet her strategic objectives.

Finally, the University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Teresa Akenga in her message to the graduands, staff, parents and guardians and the various stakeholders acknowledged the stride the university has made throughout the 10 years of her existence. She called upon the graduands to be guided by the University Anthem Stanza Three, Line One ‘In Boldness we Arise, the entire world to reach’ and become ambassadors of the University and standing out tall to be counted in advancing innovation and the needed change within their surroundings. The Vice-Chancellor appreciated the work of the able University staff, whom through their actions the University has benefited from collaborations and partnership both beyond and locally, which has made the University to become a going concern. She finalized by acknowledging and commending the efforts that parents, guardians and various stakeholders have been doing to ensure that the University meets her mandate.

Joseph Kiptoo (Pastor, Eldoret Faith Centre), Hon. Samuel Ruto (Community Leader-Kimumu), Collins Okomo (Marketing and Communication Officer-KASNEB), Hon. Patrick Losike Lokaimoe (CEC-Turkana County).
