University of Eldoret International Students held their annual tree planting day at the University’s main campus. The activity, besides bringing together the international students, was meant to raise awareness and involve them in the government’s push to have 15 billion trees planted in the next ten (10) years to ensuring environment sustainability.

University of Eldoret International students, drawn from different African  countries namely, the DRC, Liberia, Namibia, South Sudan, Uganda and Zimbabwe participated  in the activity. The International Students Tree Planting Day was officiated by the Ag. Registrar-Administration Dr. Francis Ikapel, who thanked the international students for taking up the initiative and walking with the vision of the University and the Kenyan government in mitigating the effect of climate change in our nation. He said that trees are of great benefit to all of us in conserving and protecting our environment.

Among those who were present during the tree planting day were, Dr. Thomas Munyao (Chairman, Environmental Sustainability Committee), Dr. Heka Kamau (Coordinator, OISC), Ms. Cynthia Chebii (Corporate Affairs and Marketing), Mr. Philip Maritim ( Environmental Sciences Department), Ms. Anne Njoki (OISC) and Mr. Richard Nzuva (Hostels Department).
