Learning beyond the Classroom- President’s Award Kenya-2026

The President’s Award–Kenya (PA-K), University of Eldoret Chapter, proudly participated in the Gold Award Presentation Ceremony held at State House, Nairobi on 21st January 2026. The ceremony marked a significant national milestone, during which 14 outstanding candidates from the University of Eldoret were conferred with the prestigious Gold Award. This achievement reflects the university’s strong commitment to holistic student development and excellence beyond the classroom. Among the dignitaries was the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Cheruiyot and the Dean of students. The VC congratulated the awardees on the prestigious awards presented to the university.

The ceremony was held under the theme “Shaping Young People’s Character and Encouraging Purposeful Volunteerism,” a message that strongly aligns with the mission of UoE PA-K. Through structured activities in service, skills development, physical recreation, and adventurous journeys, the Award continues to nurture resilient, disciplined, and socially responsible young leaders who are equipped to make meaningful contributions to society.

Among the notable activities that the GAP2026 team achieved is building a strong culture of community service, self-driven leadership, and innovation through impactful activities done for over 52 weeks under each of the three activities. These included championing environmental conservation projects, strengthening youth mentorship networks, and fostering teamwork through adventurous and skill-building expeditions. A key highlight was the residential project, where the participants constructed a 4 door sanitary toilet facilities for young pupils in a school in Kerio Valley, an essential contribution to improving hygiene, dignity, and overall well-being. By ensuring access to safe sanitation, the team helped create a healthier learning environment where children can thrive. Together, these efforts continue to shape university of Eldoret youth into confident, service-driven leaders committed to positive change.

UoE PA-K extends its sincere appreciation to the University of Eldoret administration, Award leader – Dr. Chemoiwa, mentors, assessors, coordinators, unit leaders and all stakeholders whose support made this success possible. As a chapter, we remain committed to expanding participation, strengthening community service initiatives, and continuing to shape value-driven, service-oriented leaders in line with the vision of the President’s Award–Kenya and University of Eldoret mandate.
