The University of Eldoret proudly celebrates the outstanding achievement of four of its students who represented the institution with distinction at the prestigious Red White & Build US–Kenya Hackathon national finals held at the US Embassy in Nairobi. The hackathon was organized by STEM Impact Center Kenya in partnership with the U.S. Embassy Kenya and brought together top student innovators from across the country to develop technology-driven solutions addressing real-world challenges. The competition was uniquely structured across three regional innovation themes, with the Eldoret region focusing on Health innovations (medical innovation and healthcare delivery solutions). Teams first competed at the regional level, with the best projects advancing to the national finals in Nairobi. The final event brought together Kenya’s brightest young innovators to pitch their solutions before a panel of experts, industry leaders, and representatives from the U.S. Embassy. The University of Eldoret was represented by two teams in the Health Innovation category:
1. Team EldoCare
- James Ngandu – 4th Year, Computer Science
- Hidaya Vanessa – 2nd Year, Information Technology
Team EldoCare developed an innovative health-focused solution that earned them the position of First Runners-Up nationally, securing a prize of $700.
2. Team VisionCare

Team Vision Care also delivered an impressive performance, earning a place among the Top 10 teams nationally, competing against top innovators from across Kenya. The Red White & Build US–Kenya Hackathon not only recognized outstanding innovation through cash awards but also fostered international collaboration, strengthened US–Kenya STEM partnerships, and provided young innovators with exposure to global networks.
The University extends sincere appreciation to STEM Impact Center Kenya and the U.S. Embassy Kenya for creating such a transformative platform for youth innovation and technological advancement.
