Representatives from the National Environment Management Authority made a courtesy call to the Vice-Chancellor to assess the University’s preparedness for the upcoming 14th Regional Centre of Expertise Conference that is scheduled to be at the University of Eldoret between August 28th and 30th, 2024. The NEMA team was received by Prof. Lizzy Mwamburi (Director, Research and Innovation) and Prof. Vincent Sudoi, the RCE North Rift Region Coordinator on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot.
The NEMA team was briefed on the upcoming conference preparations which will be blended (physical and virtual) with 2 days (28th and 29th) hosted at the University and the third day (30th) hosted at Eldoret National Polytechnic. During the conference the participants will have a tree planting session at the Elgeiyo escarpment as part of the RCE’s responsibility towards the 15 billion trees by 2027.
The team from the NEMA was led by Ms Ruth Nderitu and included Mr. Eric Deche, Mr. Joseph Masinde, Mr. Shem Koiyet, Mr. Jeremiah Omwoyo and Ms. Karen Tanui. Also present was Mr. Stephen Kimutu (NEMA Elgeyo marakwet Coordinator), Mr Martin Walinga from RCE North Rift, Mr. Jonathan Ngeno from TENP and Mr. James Kemboi from Nandi. The team from UoE included Dr. Christopher Saina, Dr. Thomas Munyao, Mr. Bernard Limo, Mr. Leonard Agan and Ms. Elsie Boit (Corporate Affairs and Marketing Office).
