Elimu Tree Planting Day 24th May 2024

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, launched the Elimu Tree Planting Day on Friday 24th May, 2024. This was in response to a directive from the Ministry of Education. The activity was facilitated by the Environmental Sustainability Committee led by the Chairperson, Dr. Thomas Munyao.

The Vice-Chancellor thanked all members of staff for availing themselves for the Elimu Tree Planting Day. He mentioned that the University is committed to achieving the set target of planting over 130,000 trees and the members of the University community will align with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 13 on Climate Action and the University agenda of have a green campus. Prof. Cheruiyot urged all colleagues who planted the trees to maintain them and follow up on their progress ensuring the trees thrived well.

Present during the Elimu Tree Planting ceremony was the University newest partner Customized Aviation Services Director Mr. Alex Mugane, members of the University Management Board,  Deputy Vice-Chancellor (PRE) - Prof. Philip Raburu, the Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (ASA) - Prof. Beatrice Were, Ag. Deputy Vice-Chancellor (AF) - Dr. Nicholas Makau, Registrar-Academic - Prof. Paul Tarus, Registrar-Planning - Dr. Benjamin Mwasi, Ag. Registrar-Administration - CPA. Dr. Francis Ikapel, Ag. Finance Officer - CPA Barnabas Agar and members of the University teaching and non-teaching staff.
