School of Science Dons at Eshikulu Girls High School, Kakamega

A candle does not dim by lighting others! Our dons visited Eshikulu Girls High School in Kakamega County to celebrate the 2025 International Day for Girls and Women in Science. The visit was conducted on 8th February 2025 by Dr. Becky Aloo, Dr. Emily Chemoiwa and Prof. Argwings Otieno from the School of Science and they spent the whole day offering various STEM mentorship sessions packed with fun and interactive activities that empowered young scientists to explore their limitless potential.

The team unpacked the careers in science, and science degree programs offered at the University of Eldoret, played Kahoot! to enjoy science learning, and had gifts for the students and teachers.

To grace the occasion and mentor the girls was also Everlyn Kimanthi the Founder and Chairperson of Scientists Of Kenya Association-SCOKA who spoke virtually about her vision for women in #STEM and what the future should look like.

Also speaking virtually at the event was June Lindah Adhiambo the #CEO of Classifyme and Career Matchmakers Central who gave a talk about a mobile/web application that helps high school students make choices for University degree programs based on their personality, grades, and interests. The team also had Marystella Injete, a postgraduate student at the University of Eldoret who spoke to the girls about Young Scientists Kenya and the open call for applications for the 2025 projects from high schools across Kenya.

The science cake was cut to mark the occasion.
