Prof. Julius Onyango Ochuodho

Prof. Julius Onyango Ochuodho is a Professor of Agriculture (Seed Science) at the University of Eldoret, a lecturer in Plant Pathology and Seed Science & Technology. He is an academician, researcher, innovation incubation specialist, and a champion in resource mobilization.

He holds Doctor of Philosophy in Plant Science (University of KwaZulu Natal, South Africa), Master of Science in Plant Pathology (University of Nairobi), Postgraduate Diploma in Seed Pathology (DGISP, Copenhagen, Denmark) and a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (University of Nairobi).

His career in the Agriculture field started in 1981 after he graduated from the University of Nairobi and worked at the Ministry of Agriculture as the National Seed Quality Control Services (NSQCS) in Lanet and he rose to be a Senior Agricultural Officer, Head of Seed Testing Laboratory, Deputy Center Director and was the Acting Director of NSQCS for two years. While at NSQCS, he spearheaded the computerization of certification services and coordinated the National Seed Pathology research project funded by DANIDA. He joined Moi University in 1997 and was part of the team that implemented the MHO-Seed Technology project at the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology. He has been Dean, School of Agriculture and Biotechnology, and contributed immensely academically and in the development of the University of Eldoret. He has supervised to graduation about 20 Ph.D. and 40 MSc to completion, published more than 70 papers in refereed journals and 4 book chapters, examined about 40 Ph.D. and Masters Theses. He has been involved in many collaborative research projects including RUFORUM CARP and Intra-Africa academic mobility (SCIFSA) that have brought into the University more than 3 million Euros since 2006.

Currently, Prof Ochuodho is the Director, Resource Mobilization and Strategic Initiatives, Lead scientist at the Outreach center; and Coordinator, ENABLE Youth Kenya and RUFORUM TAGDev project
