10th International Interdisciplinary Conference

Introduction

The 10th International Interdisciplinary Conference was held 2 - 3rd April, 2025 at the NS Building. The event brought together scholars, researchers, professionals, and students from diverse academic and professional backgrounds to foster dialogue, collaboration, and innovation across disciplines.

Conference Theme and Objectives

This year’s theme, “Rethinking Knowledge in Higher Education” focused on exploring the intersections between various fields, aiming to address global challenges through integrated and collaborative approaches. The primary objective was to encourage interdisciplinary research and provide a platform for sharing groundbreaking work.

Organizers and Participants

The conference organized by the Directorate of Research and Innovation and the School Research and Extension Committees from seven schools, attracted 90 presenters in Engineering Education and Real World Problem, Gender Governance and Education, Climate Change Food Systems and Livelihoods, Technologies for Sustainable  Development, Indigenous Knowledge and Education, Re-tooling Knowledge Disseminations in Higher Education, Health and Emerging Issues, 21st Century ICT Innovations in Education and AI  and Automation in Knowledge Creation.

Keynote Speakers and Sessions

Highlights included keynote addresses  held on 2nd April, 2025 by  Dr. David Ngige, who spoke "Research, Science, Technology and Innovation as the gamechanger in reconfiguring University Education" and Opiyo Okwiri who spoke on “Positioning the African Credit Transfer System (ACTS): its effects on skills transferability and intra-African mobility “.

Major Highlights

  1. Over ninety (90) research papers presented.
  2. Special sessions on emerging trends in climate change
  3. Networking opportunities fostering interdisciplinary collaboration

Outcomes and Impact

The conference facilitated meaningful exchanges of ideas and opened doors for future research collaborations. Many participants expressed interest in cross-disciplinary projects and joint publications. The proceedings will be published in African Journal of Education and Technology (AJEST) and African Environmental Research (AER) Journals.

The 10th International Interdisciplinary Conference was a resounding success, underlining the importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in addressing complex global issues.
