We are ISO 9001:2015 Certified!
Following a rigorous audit, the University of Eldoret has officially received the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the Kenya Bureau of Standards. Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, our Vice-Chancellor, accepted the certificate from Mr. Vincent Cheruiyot, the KEBS North Rift Regional Manager, on behalf of the KEBS Managing Director Mrs. Esther Ngari, in the presence of the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba.
In his speech, the Hon. Ogamba, as he congratulated the University for the achievement, said that the re-certification was a milestone that signified the University’s adherance to international standards of quality management. “ISO certification is a commitment to continuous improvement efficiency and customer satisfaction. In the education sector this translates to a better governance structure, enhanced academic service delivery and improved students experience,” he said. He emphasized that the quality standards ensure that students receive the best education, administrative systems rune smoothly and there is the culture of accountability at all levels and a catalyst for continuous collaboration and transformation.
Mrs. Esther Ngari, MD KEBS, in a speech delivered on her behalf by the KEBS North Rift Region Regional Manager, Mr. Vincent Cheruiyot articulated that UoE had embraced the highest standards, and the recertification signified the successful attainment of the stringent global standards. She emphasized that the assessments and audits hold significant weight as excellence, quality, and standardization are paramount. She reassured the Vice-Chancellor of KEBS commitment to support UoE and urged the UoE community to embrace the spirit of continuous improvement. Mrs. Ngari highlighted that UoE had exemplified exceptional quality, emphasizing that quality is not a simple target but a culture ingrained in the systems and processes. Quality is a reminder (dedication), a motivation (sustain high standards), and a challenge (encouraging the establishment of new benchmarks to quality). While encouraging the UoE community to uphold exceptional standards, she shared a quote from Aristotle, "Excellence is never an accident, it is a result of high intentions, sincere effort, and intelligent execution."
Dr. Ismail Buro, the Chair of Council, affirmed that the University is committed to upholding international quality standards in all of its operations. He emphasized that achieving and maintaining such certification requires dedication to continuous improvement, operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
