The University of Eldoret through the Directorate of Quality Assurance conducted an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System awareness seminar for members of the Student Council and Class Representatives on 10th December, 2025.
This awareness seminar was officially opened by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Students’ Affairs), Prof. Godfrey Netondo, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor. The acting Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance), Prof. Wilson Ng’etich who is also the University’s ISO 9001:2015 QMS Management Representative, others members present were the Director Directorate of Quality Assurance, Director Town Campus, and the Dean of Students.
In his remarks, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (ASA) informed the student leaders that it was a privilege to be taken through such a sensitization forum where information about services offered by the University is shared. He reiterated the University’s commitment to provide high quality teaching, research and other support services that meet and exceed their expectations. The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration and Finance) emphasized the need for the students to understand the university’s policies and processes in order to avoid malpractices that can interfere with their studies. He emphasized the need for the students to abhor examination cheating and instead work hard and maintain integrity throughout their study life at the University of Eldoret. The Dean of students highlighted the students’ welfare programs available at the University and encouraged the students to visit the Dean’s office so as to be informed of other support services offered. In her remarks, the Director of Town Campus took the student leaders through the mandate of the Directorates and Schools with emphasis on the need to follow proper protocol when addressing the issues directly affecting them. She reminded the students to make use of the suggestion boxes, complaints and enquiries registers available both at the Main and Town Campus to record their issues, eventually these issues will be resolved by the University management.
The Director Quality Assurance in her welcome remarks outlined the purpose of the annual student leader’s awareness seminar and implored the students to make use of their position to enhance interaction with the various organs of the University to air the issues that affect their colleagues so that intervention measures are instituted. She also emphasized that recertification of the university to ISO 9001:2015 Standard was not in vain and had led to improved service delivery. She assured the participants that these high standards will be maintained as the University fulfills its core mandate.
