Millennium Fellowship Class of 2025

The University of Eldoret, United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI), and MCN (Millennium Campus Network) are proud to present the Millennium Fellowship Class of 2025, an ambitious program to help make the Sustainable Development Goals and UNAI principles a reality.  Millennium Fellows were selected from a record-breaking 60,396 applicants to join the Class of 2025, hailing from 290+ universities worldwide.  The Class of 2025 consists of 4,000+ driven undergraduates at 280+ universities in 48 nations.

University of Eldoret has 20 Millennium Fellows who will embark on a semester-long journey to build the skills necessary for a career rooted in the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In addition to poring over the Millennium Fellowship curriculum in tandem with Fellowship cohorts on their university campuses, Millennium Fellows each undertake a social impact project - either as individuals or in groups - to advance one or more of the 17 SDGs and 10 UNAI principles, a list of 17 objectives focusing on areas such as social justice, sustainability, poverty, equity, education, and economic growth. The projects the undergraduates carry out on their campuses and communities will realize the sustainable development goals in tangible and innovative ways.

The Millennium Fellows of the University of Eldoret are working on a campus project ‘Project Green’ that is aimed at contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 13: Climate Action, and 15: Life on Land. The project aims to transform underutilized and bare areas of the university into green spaces where students can study, relax, and connect with nature. Currently, the campus offers limited dedicated spaces for students to unwind or study outdoors, and several areas remain barren. This lack of greenery diminishes the campus’s sustainability and aesthetic appeal. By planting additional trees, Project Green will create a vibrant, eco-friendly learning environment—one that fosters well-being, supports biodiversity, and leaves a lasting legacy for future generations of students.

The objectives of “Project Green” are:

  • Enhance Campus Aesthetics: Transform barren or underused areas into beautiful, inviting green spaces.
  • Improve Air Quality and Microclimate: Use trees to provide shade and moderate temperature.
  • Promote Environmental Awareness: Engage students in understanding ecological sustainability and their role in climate action.
  • Create a Living Legacy: Establish long-term environmental benefits for future generations of students.
