6th Annual Innovation Week and Public Lecture

Since its inception, the University of Eldoret  annual innovation week and public lecture has always been centred upon fostering creativity, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with communities. Throughout the years, this event has enhanced the needed networking, facilitating connections between entrepreneurs, researchers and industry professionals. Further, the event has been a centre piece of showcasing new technologies, skill development and affording researchers and innovators alike a platform for dialogue and discussion around important emerging topics and trends within various sectors.

The 6th Annual Innovation Week and Public Lecture themed ‘Building a Sustainable Future Through Innovations’ which began on 14th October, 2024 saw innovators receiving training both physically and virtually from renowned speakers, which was an ideal capacity building venture for them as they strived to patent their innovations.

While officially opening the 6th annual innovation week and public lecture on 17th October, 2024, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Planning Research and Innovation Prof. Phillip Raburu who was representing the Vice-Chancellor reiterated the importance of innovation in the developing of economies. He identified that innovations are centre piece of universities operations and identified that as University of Eldoret we have strived to enhance innovation as evident in the varieties of beans, wheat, potatoes and pyrethrum innovated by our researchers. He called upon institutions and industrial players to encourage their innovators to come up with innovations for commercialization. He finalized by welcoming all the partners and innovators from other universities, institutions and industries to the 6th annual innovation week and public lecture.

His sentiments were echoed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor in charge of Planning Research and Innovation from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) Prof. Charles Mutai who identified that the future of Kenya, Africa and the World is innovation. He finalized by calling upon universities to be leaders in innovations for commercialization.

Also present during the 6th annual innovation and public lecture were innovators and exhibitors from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Kisii University, Kabarak University, other industrial players and University of Eldoret Staff and Students.
