Research to Commercialization Workshop

The Department of Intellectual Property Management under the Directorate of Research and Innovation in the Division of Planning Research and Extension conducted two-day research to commercialization workshop as from 14-15 October, 2024 at the School of Business Conference hall. The workshop which was a curtain raiser to the 6th Annual Innovation Week and Public lecture scheduled for 16-18 October, 2024 brought together University’s innovators and researchers to share their insight on matters research, innovation and commercialization.
The workshop was officially opened by the Director Research and Innovation Prof. Lizzy A. Mwamburi who was categorical in urging the innovators present to be oriented with their respective community and cultural dynamics while coming up with their innovations in order to develop solutions that meet societal problems. She called upon the innovators to be conversant with emerging trends globally so as to come up with innovations that meets the current societal needs. Prof. Mwamburi finalized by thanking all members present for ensuring that the workshop becomes a success.
Her sentiments were echoed by the Head, Intellectual Property Management Office, who reiterated on the need for innovators to be vocal with their innovations and ensure that they strive to patent their works so as not to be disadvantaged in the future. The trainers included Dr. George Ariya of the School of Business, Economics and Management Sciences, and Dr. Grace Mureithi from the School of Arts and Human Development, who are both members of the Innovation Planning Committee. The workshop was also graced by external trainers like Ms. June Linda from Kenyatta University and Mr. Dennis Maloya from Vikoria Ventures who presented virtually.
