In a strategic move to strengthen digital literacy, research support services, and digital transformation, the University of Eldoret Library successfully conducted a comprehensive e-resources and information retrieval training for its library staff on 27th January 2026.
The comprehensive training program addressed critical areas including advanced information retrieval techniques, e-resource platform management, remote access systems, AI-enabled research tools, copyright and licensing compliance, reference management tools, and research visibility enhancement. The competencies in these areas are essential as the University responds to increasing demands for sophisticated research support services.
Prof. Paul Gichohi, the University Librarian emphasized, "As we continue to invest in quality electronic resources, our staff must be equipped to maximize these tools and resources for the benefit of students and researchers." The University Librarian, further stated, “Our library staff are now better prepared to support students and faculty in accessing, utilizing, and ethically engaging with e-resources, which is crucial for academic success and research visibility.”
This initiative aligns directly with the University’s Strategic Plan pillars, particularly in the areas of digital transformation, research excellence, and human capital development.
