University of Eldoret Participates in PROSPER Project to Enhance Internationalisation

The University of Eldoret (UoE) is proud to announce its active participation in the PROSPER project; Promoting Opportunities and Strengthening Partnerships for Enhanced Internationalisation between Europe and Kenya, a collaborative initiative aimed at elevating the global standing of Kenyan higher education institutions. Coordinated by Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, this project aligns with Kenya's Vision 2030 and focuses on capacity building, strategic optimisation, and the strengthening of academic partnerships.

Key Objectives of the PROSPER Project:

  • Staff Skill Development: Empowering university staff with the necessary skills to navigate and contribute to the global academic landscape.
  • Optimisation of Institutional Strategies: Enhancing institutional frameworks to support effective internationalisation efforts.
  • Strengthening Academic Partnerships: Fostering robust collaborations with international academic institutions to enrich educational and research opportunities.

Inaugural Seminar Highlights:

From February 17th to 20th, 2025, representatives from UoE joined partners from Kenyan and European institutions at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University for the project's inaugural seminar. This four-day event established the foundation for the project's collaborative efforts, allowing participants to:

  • Refine Shared Vision: Align on common goals and define the roles of each stakeholder within the project.
  • Plan Strategic Activities: Outline key milestones and expected outcomes for the next three years.
  • Engage in Thematic Discussions: Participate in sessions covering topics such as digitalisation in higher education, international communication tools, and capacity building through institutional project development.

Looking Ahead:

The momentum from the inaugural seminar will continue with the next partner meeting scheduled for April 2026 in Kenya. This event will provide an opportunity to assess the project's initial impacts and further strengthen the connections between Kenyan, French, and German institutions.

The University of Eldoret remains committed to advancing its internationalisation efforts through active engagement in the PROSPER project, thereby contributing to the enhancement of higher education in Kenya and beyond.
