Dr. Eliud Kipchoge was a well of knowledge and a fountain of wisdom to the students this afternoon. His words were clear; focus, determination, commitment, character, good values, be inquisitive and curious, read widely even beyond your programme requirements and beliefs were what drives any person to success. From his inspiring analogies and quick smile, he kept the students engaged and attentive, drawing from his words of wisdom through his session.
Since its inception, the University of Eldoret annual innovation week and public lecture has always been centred upon fostering creativity, collaboration, and knowledge sharing with communities. Throughout the years, this event has enhanced the needed networking, facilitating connections between entrepreneurs, researchers and industry professionals.
The Department of Intellectual Property Management under the Directorate of Research and Innovation in the Division of Planning Research and Extension conducted two-day research to commercialization workshop as from 14-15 October, 2024 at the School of Business Conference hall. The workshop which was a curtain raiser to the 6th Annual Innovation Week and Public lecture scheduled for 16-18 October, 2024 brought together University’s innovators and researchers to share their insight on matters research, innovation and commercialization.
University of Eldoret hosted the 14th Africa Regional Centre Expertise (RCE) Meeting with the theme: “Role of RCE in Climate Action, Education for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Goals”. The meeting was in line with the RCE’s mandate of advancing climate action, Education for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals through collaborative efforts with local communities, Academia and governmental bodies fostering knowledge exchange, capacity building, and innovative solutions. The discussions highlighted these collaborative efforts.
The Outreach Centre in collaboration with Hand-in-Hand East Africa (HiH-EA) organized a 4-days training workshop for HiH’s trainers. HiH-EA works with the farmer groups in six (6) subcounties within Uasin Gishu on the leafy vegetables value chain. All the groups are under the management of a trainer from HiH. Since not all the have a background in agriculture, there was need to take them through a training that would enhance their capacity in order to make them more efficient. The first phase (soil testing and fertilizer use) has just been concluded.

The OISC in collaboration with Making More Health (MMH) facilitated students from the University to participate in V4C 2024. Venture for Change (V4C), supported by German pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim continues with its mission to empower University students with social entrepreneurship skills. This year's program included the participation of 15 (fifteen) students each from the four participating Universities: University of Eldoret, Moi University, Kibabii University, and the University of Kabianga.
The 2024 Venture for Change (V4C) program concluded on September 26th 2024 with a thrilling idea competition between student teams from various participating Universities. Launched in 2019, V4C is a social entrepreneurship initiative designed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset in University students. The University of Eldoret (UoE) has been a participant since 2021, marking its fourth consecutive year. Other participating Universities include Moi University, University of Kabianga, and Kibabii University.
