School of Arts and Social Sciences Profile

Welcome to the School of Arts and Human Development. The school has three departments namely: Development Studies; Communication, Languages and Literature; and Humanities.  The departments offer Common Courses, Diploma, Undergraduate and Postgraduate programmes.

Specifically, the following common courses are offered to undergraduate students: Quantitative Skills, Communication Skills, Languages, Literature, HIV/AIDS and Gender, State Society and Development, Research Methods and Analysis, Geography, History and Religious Studies.

Our school is a dynamic hub of discovery, exploration, and innovation, and I am filled with immense pride to lead this community of scholars and future leaders.

School of Science Profile

The School of Science was established in 1990 and has since grown and evolved into the heart of STEM training at the University of Eldoret, serving over 75% of the student population. The school conducts training in foundational and specialized courses in the basic and applied sciences. The School of Science's vision is to be a world-class center in pursuit of scientific knowledge.

University Held The Kenya-UK-LMIC Partnership Networking Workshop to Address The Global Challenge of Antimicrobial Resistance

The University of Eldoret through the Directorate of Research and Innovation and Department of Biological Sciences housed at the School of Science held a two-day Workshop on 30 – 31 October 2023 at the Forestry Building. The Research workshop which was organized by the Kenya-UK-LMIC Networking and Collaborative Research Partnership on leveraging fish microbial genomics to enhance food hygiene and reduce antibiotic resistance spread along the food supply chain was officially opened by Deputy Vice-Chancellor (PRE) Prof. Phillip Raburu representing the Vice-Chancellor.

Chemical Sciences Conference 2022 (Virtual)

The University of Eldoret through the Directorate of Research and Innovation hosted a 3-day Chemical Sciences Virtual Conference at University of Eldoret Town Campus from 16th to 18th March, 2022 themed: “Trends and Innovation in Chemical Sciences for Sustainable Development”. The virtual conference saw the participation of 97 presenters from different institutions locally and internationally.

School of Education Profile

The School of Education has been in the existence in this University since 2010. It was established to provide the quality Teacher Education programme with focus on preparation and production of innovative and competitive school teachers. This is based on the quality objectives of the School which are to prepare prospective teachers; conduct research, out-research education and extension services, consultancies and establish educational linkages and partnership with stake-holders in Teacher education programmes.

UoE Students receive Post-graduate Diplomas from Israeli Agriculture Institute

Congratulations!!!

Students from the School of Agriculture and Biotechnology graduated from their 9 month internship programme at the Arava International Center for Agriculture Training (AICAT) Institute in Israel on 13th June 2024. They were attached to Israeli farms while taking courses at the institute. Upon graduation they were awarded Post Graduate Diplomas.

The next cohort will be travelling to Israel in September 2024.
