The University of Eldoret, through its Productivity Mainstreaming Committee and the Directorate of Strategic Planning & Performance Contracting, held a successful two-day workshop on Productivity Management Framework and Data Collection from 12th to 13th June 2025.

Facilitated by experts from the National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre (NPCC), the workshop aimed to equip staff with knowledge on measuring productivity using UoE’s customized metrics. The productivity baseline index developed will be tracked annually to support continuous improvement.

The World Food Programme delegation was led by Mr. Baimankay Sankoh, the Deputy Country Director.  He was accompanied by Mr. Charles Sangok, Head of Area Office Central, Ms. Sylvia Kezengwa, Innovation Manager and Ms. Kezia Kironji, Market Systems. They were accompanied by Dr. Jeremiah Laktabai and Pamela Busienei from AMPATH.

The University of Eldoret proudly emerged as the Best Innovation Institution during the Eldoret City Innovation Week held from June 5^th to 7^th, 2025. This prestigious recognition marked a defining moment for the institution, underscoring its unwavering dedication to cultivating a culture of research, creativity, and pragmatic problem-solving both within and beyond the confines of the university. This accomplishment serves as a testament to our leadership in the innovation space, not only within the North Rift but also nationally and internationally.

The University of Eldoret held the 2^nd Edition of the University Tree Growing Day, coinciding with the observance of the World Environmental Day  celebrated on June 5th, 2025, under the theme “Putting an end to Plastic Pollution.”

Members of the University staff and students, led by Prof. Godfrey Netondo (Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic and Student Affairs'), along with the University Management Board, Directors and Deans of Schools planted trees at the University Arboretum to commemorate the World Environmental Day 2025.

Prof. Bekuta Balozi from the School of Environmental Sciences and Natural Resource Management shared his expertise with the participants, demonstrating the most effective practices for the careful management and planting of seedlings to ensure their optimal growth and vitality.

The Engaging Local Communities in Minor Crop Utilization for Biodiversity Conservation and Livelihood Enrichment project (EMBRACE), is dedicated to the  restoring of vital ecosystems, the elevation of local communities, and the advocacy of biodiversity conservation across 25 indigenous communities in Ghana and Kenya. The project to positively impact the lives of over 1,250 households by fostering community empowerment, harnessing local knowledge, and facilitating collaborative endeavors with partners to promote responsible governance.

The Patent Drafting Workshop, held from the 27^th to 30^th May 2025, was organized by the Directorate of Research and Innovation in collaboration with the Department of Intellectual Property Management.

At the conclusion of the Patent Drafting Workshop, participants were awarded certificates by Mr. Sammy Ziro Lewa from the Kenya Industrial Properties Institute (KIPI).

The Directorate of Research and Innovation in conjunction with the Department of Intellectual Property Management, held a successful four-day Patent Drafting Workshop between 27^th - 30^th May 2025. The primary objective of the workshop was to equip staff and students engaged in innovation with practical expertise necessary for drafting their patent applications. The Deputy Governor of Uasin Gishu County, Hon. Evans Kapkea, paid a courtesy visit to Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, our Vice-Chancellor. Their conversation spanned a variety of sectors in which the University could obtain considerable benefits through partnership with the County. Dr. Ismail Hassan Buro, the Chair of Council at the University of Eldoret, was also present.

University of Eldoret held the inaugural Men’s Health and Wellness Event on May 14th and 15th, 2025. This event was spearheaded by the University Health Services Department in collaboration with the AIDS Control Unit. The facilitators comprised health professionals from Tophill Hospital and the Rupaz Fun and Fitness Centre.
