The Outreach Centre of the University of Eldoret and Hand-in-Hand East Africa (HiH-EA) are collaborating to train over 3,600 farmers within six (6) sub-counties in Uasin Gishu on the leafy vegetables value chain in 4 phases; soil testing and fertilizer use, horticultural best practices, post-harvest handling and value addition and group dynamics. The first phase (soil testing and fertilizer use) has just been concluded.

The University of Eldoret and Hand-in-Hand East Africa (HiH-EA) recently signed an MoU and Service Level Agreement (SLA) to train over 3,600 farmers within the six (6) sub-counties in Uasin Gishu on the horticultural value chain. The training sessions will be carried out in 4 phases  -  soil testing and fertilizer use, horticultural production, post-harvest handling and value addition and group dynamics.

The OISC in collaboration with Making More Health (MMH) facilitated students from the University to participate in V4C 2024. Venture for Change (V4C), supported by German pharmaceutical company, Boehringer Ingelheim continues with its mission to empower University students with social entrepreneurship skills. This year's program included the participation of 15 (fifteen) students each from the four participating Universities: University of Eldoret, Moi University, Kibabii University, and the University of Kabianga.

The 2024 Venture for Change (V4C) program concluded on September 26th 2024 with a thrilling idea competition between student teams from various participating Universities. Launched in 2019, V4C is a social entrepreneurship initiative designed to cultivate an entrepreneurial mindset in University students. The University of Eldoret (UoE) has been a participant since 2021, marking its fourth consecutive year. Other participating Universities include Moi University, University of Kabianga, and Kibabii University.

A delegation from Lund University, Sweden; Sokoine University of Agriculture, Tanzania and Chinese Academy of Sciences, China paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot.

The University hosted the 17th Agribusiness Trade Fair 2024 on September 12th, 13th and 14th 2024. This year the theme was “Promoting Climate Smart Agri-preneurship and Value Addition to Spur Industrialization for Sustainable Development.”

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot signed an MoU with Dr. Erick Rutto, President of Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) in the presence of Dr. Kipronoh Ronoh, the Principal Secretary, State Department for Agriculture; Hon. Dr. Jonathan Bii Chelilim, the Governor of the County Government of Uasin Gishu; Prof. Elijah Songok, the Ag. Director General at Kenya Medical Research Institute and Dr. Ismail Buro Hassan, University of Eldoret Chair of Council.
