International Microorganisms Day is a worldwide event to promote the diversity and variety of microorganisms. It is a way to encourage everyone to recognize and celebrate the many ways microscopic organisms are important in human health, culture, economic activity, employment, and, throughout our daily lives. This year, the Department of Biological Sciences, with the generous support of the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) marked the day on 18th September 2023 at the University Grounds to educate the public about the importance of microbes and microbiology in human welfare.

The University received first-year students 2023/2024 cohort who reported to the University on 11th – 12th September 2023 and were duly registered at the various Schools. Orientation sessions took place between 13th September 2023 to 16th September 2023. The climax of the orientation process culminated with the Vice-Chancellor’s address on 22nd September 2023.

It was a joyous moment for Joy Edah, when her name was read out by the Chief Guest, Deputy Governor Uasin-Gishu County H.E. Hon. Eng. John Barorot, as the winner of this year’s raffle prize. The winner could not believe the good news after her raffle ticket was picked out during the final day of the Agribusiness Trade Fair 2023. The top prize of a heifer worth One Hundred Thousand shillings (Ksh.100,000.00) was a donation from the University as the raffle prize of this year’s Trade Fair.

University based Community Action Research for increasing viability of cereal-legume value chains towards improved nutrition and livelihood in Sub- Sahara Africa (UniCARSSA) Project

In the year 2019, there was a call for proposals by VLIR-UOS for research funding under the South Initiative 2020. A team of two institutions namely the University of Eldoret (UoE) led by Prof. Maurice O. Okoth (Principal Investigator) and Prof. Samuel Lutta and Ghent University –Belgium (GUB) led by Kristof Demeestere came together to respond to and won the call with a project proposal entitled: “Water quality characterization and biosorption for point-of-use drinking water treatment in Athi river basin, Kenya”.

The University of Eldoret Student Council is a student-elected governing body that represents and advocates for the interests and concerns of the student body. Comprised of student leaders, it plays a pivotal role in liaising between students and the university administration. The council organizes events, addresses student issues, and fosters a sense of community and engagement on campus. Its purpose is to ensure a positive and enriching academic and social experience for the university's students.

The University of Eldoret Service Charter is a formal document that outlines the institution's commitment to providing high-quality services to its stakeholders, including students, staff, and the public. It defines the standards of service delivery, expectations, and the rights and responsibilities of both the university and its service users. This charter serves as a crucial tool for promoting transparency, accountability, and excellence in the university's service delivery, fostering a culture of customer-centric operations.

These statutes define the university's objectives, organizational framework, academic policies, and procedures, ensuring that it operates in accordance with established standards and principles.
