Commission for University of Education Research Team at UoE

The Commission for University Education research team visited the University to undertake Focus Group discussions centred on their research on disruptive technologies within the sphere of University Education in Kenya. The study is driven by the necessity to assess how disruptive technologies, including online learning, artificial intelligence (AI), and virtual reality (VR) have significantly altered the traditional framework of Kenyan universities.

Competence Based Education Training with KICD

The School of Education, through the CBE Preparedness Committee, is dedicated to ensuring that the University faculty is equipped for the transition in 2029, where we will welcome the first cohort of CBE students. On the third day of the workshop, the facilitators from Kenya Institute for Curriculum Development (KICD) - Dr. Josephat Miheso, Mr. Patrick Andika, and Mr. Arthur Mdoga - guided the CBE Champions through a series of interactive sessions.

Competence Based Education Training

Recognizing that the first cohort of CBE students will transition to the University in 2029, the CBE Preparedness Committee, spearheaded by Dr. Hoseah Kiplagat (Dean, School of Education), in collaboration with the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD)  conducted a comprehensive 3-day training on Competency-Based Education (CBE) from May 12th to 14th, 2025. This training aimed to fortify the transition process to CBE, specifically targeting the UoE CBE Champions.

The RAAs Conference - April 30th, 2025

On Wednesday 30th April, 2025, following 3 days of intensive deliberations, the 2nd RAAs Conference was officially closed by Hon. Felix Koskei, the Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service.

Our Chair of Council, Dr. Ismail Buro, alongside the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, together with Council Members Hon. Davy Koech and Ms. Grace Sugut, conveyed their appreciation to Hon. Koskei for selecting the University as the venue of choice for the 2nd RAAs conference.

University of Eldoret Engineer in France for Elite Coaches Training

It is abundantly clear that the triumph of our female athletes is intricately linked to the availability of discerning role models of the same gender, who play an indispensable role in guiding them on their journey. This was precisely exemplified at the coaching camp in Miramas, France, where Mayor Frederick Vigouroux graciously welcomed a contingent of coaches from Elgeyo Marakwet to enhance their proficiency. This initiative was undertaken in partnership with the County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet under the stewardship of Governor Wisley Rotich.

University Annual Research Grants Cohort 9 Awarding Ceremony

The awarding ceremony of the UoE-ARG Cohort 9 research grants was held on 17th April, 2025 at the University. The  Vice-Chancellor Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot presided over the awarding ceremony. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Planning, Research, and Extension) Prof. Phillip Raburu, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics Students Affairs) Prof. Godfrey Natondo, Ag. SMBE Regional Symposium on Evolutionary Genomics in Agriculture, Environment, Biodiversity conservation and Health for Africa, 2025

The University of Eldoret, Kenya, under the auspices and support of the Society for Molecular Biology and Evolution (SMBE) will host the SMBE Regional Symposium on Evolutionary Genomics in Agriculture, Environment, Biodiversity conservation and Health 2025, in Eldoret.  Evolutionary genomics is important in addressing critical questions and providing tools and strategies in agricultural production, natural resource management and biodiversity conservation, because of their power, accuracy and applicability, supported by advanced analytical and computational platforms.

Principal Secretary State Department of Industry in the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry Courtesy Call

On the sidelines of the RAAs Conference, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot was honoured with a courtesy visit from Dr. Juma Mukwana, the Principal Secretary for the State Department of Industry in the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry. They engaged in a fruitful discussion regarding various avenues for collaboration and partnership that could substantially benefit the University through advancements in education, research, infrastructure, and technological development.
