Aim and Scope

Hon. Eng. Martha Cheruto, the C.E.C. Trade, Industrialization, Tourism, Cooperatives and Enterprise Development from the County Government of Uasin Gishu paid a courtesy call to Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot. Their discussions revolved around the collaboration between the University and the County Government as well as the various opportunities that could arise from the partnership.

Aligned with the University’s mission “to provide quality education, training, research and entrepreneurship in Science, Agriculture, Engineering, Technology and the Arts to meet the needs and aspirations of a dynamic society”, the Department of Hotel and Hospitality Management hosted a Stakeholders Workshop to review their Bachelors’ and Masters’ programs while introducing the Hospitality Management Doctorate program. This workshop was spearheaded by Dr. Julie Makomere, the Head of Department, and Dr.

The 3-year Erasmus KA171 mobility project in collaboration with Hanze University, Netherlands and coordinated by the Director Research and Innovation Prof. Lizzy Mwamburi, Dean School of Engineering Dr. Clement Kiptum, Dr. George Ariya, Dr. Peter Mawioo and Eng.

The University staff and students participated in the 2025 Eldoret Agricultural Society of Kenya Show that took place from 5th to 8th March 2025 to share experiences, research findings and innovations with other stakeholders. The 2025 Show theme was;

“Promoting Climate Smart Agriculture and Trade Initiatives for Economic Growth.”

The Presidential Innovation Award (PIA) is organized annually by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KeNIA) to recognize and support innovators who demonstrate exceptional creativity and problem-solving skills to contribute to economic growth and job creation.  This year, several student teams from the University of Eldoret applied for this Award, and one of the teams was shortlisted under the University Category.

The British Academy recently announced the 17 successful applicants to its ODA Research Management Capacity Strengthening 2024 and our Don, Dr. Becky Aloo from the School of Science, is among the successful applicants.

Following a rigorous audit, the University of Eldoret has officially received the ISO 9001:2015 certification from the Kenya Bureau of Standards. Prof. Thomas Cheruiyot, our Vice-Chancellor, accepted the certificate from Mr. Vincent Cheruiyot, the KEBS North Rift Regional Manager, on behalf of the KEBS Managing Director Mrs. Esther Ngari, in the presence of the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Education, Hon. Julius Migos Ogamba.
